Anti-wrinkle treatment – common questions from patients

What is involved during my consultation?

Your dentist will make an assessment of your medical history and examine your facial muscles as well as take photos. You will have the chance to ask any questions you may have and discuss your expectations of treatment.

What does the procedure involve?

Botox injections generally take 10-20 minutes to administer although this depends on the amount of areas you are having treated. There is virtually no pain associated with Botox and fillers and normal activity can be resumed immediately.

What areas can be Botox and fillers target?

  • Crow’s feet.
  • Wrinkles between the eyebrows.
  • Gummy smile.
  • Forehead wrinkles.

Will my facial expressions change as a result of treatment?

No – fillers and Botox are designed to soften wrinkles whilst enhancing your natural features.

How do fillers and Botox work?

Botox (otherwise known as Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a neurotoxin that is injected into the muscles to prevent the messages between the transmitters and motor nerves. When the motor nerves are interrupted, muscles cannot contract.

Dermal fillers on the other hand, are made up of a naturally-occurring substance in the body known hyaluronic acid. When the ageing process occurs, the levels of hyaluronic acid in your skin are reduced, which is when wrinkles occur and the volume in your features is decreased.

How long to results last?

Effects last for around 4 months and it can take up to 14 days to see the full results. If patients choose to undergo repeated treatments in a single year, the results of the treatment can last up for 6 months, as the foundations are laid for future treatment.

What are the benefits of dermal fillers and Botox?

  • Improve your self-esteem and have more confidence in your appearance.
  • Benefit from a procedure that will render your facial aesthetics more youthful-looking.
  • Safe and painless procedure.
  • Enjoy your daily activities immediately after treatment.
