Imagine being able to walk in and out of a dental practice with brand new crowns in a single day…. At Cliftonville, it’s possible! We’re one of the only practices in the Northampton area to offer CEREC same day crowns and this state-of-the-art treatment is popular for a number of reasons – read on to find out about the benefits….
Crowns can be used to treat:
- Discoloured teeth.
- Cracked/damaged/chipped teeth.
- Restore the shape of a tooth.
- Strengthen a tooth.
The process
Your dentist will take digital impressions of your teeth and these will be used to create a computer-based construction of your prospective crown – following this the tooth will be milled while you wait for a short time. Once the crown is finished, it can be fitted.
Have a new tooth in a single day
Whilst traditional crowns need to be sent away to the dental laboratory to be made, our on-site milling machine creates your CEREC crown while you wait in our comfortable waiting room.
Accurate impressions
CEREC uses digital impressions to create your crown and these are around 20-40% more accurate than these traditional impressions material of the past, which was also widely considered to be uncomfortable and cause a gag-reflex for patients.
Save time
One of the most frustrating things about cosmetic dentistry is the need for multiple visits and the necessity of taking time out of your schedule to have treatment.
Reputable and custom created
CEREC restorations have a success rate of 95.5% after a period 9 years and offer patients a natural-looking solution – your friends need not know you’ve had treatment, as the crown will be created to fit amongst your other teeth in shape, size and colour. CEREC crowns generally require less follow-up work than with traditional restorative dentistry. The old method of creating crowns involved the crown being sent away to a technician who has never seen the patient therefore resulting in a less accurate result.
Less invasive and more comfortable
As the crown is made and fitted in the same day, there is no need for you to wear an uncomfortable temporary crown. Once your custom crown is created, your dentist will make any necessary adjustments in order for the restoration to be as well-suited as possible.
