A revolutionary treatment, the Inman aligner is an effective appliance for treating mild orthodontic issues and comes under the umbrella of short term orthodontics, treating patients in as little as 6 weeks. A removable aligner, Inman is ideal for patients who do not wish for their brace to make too many interruptions to their daily routines. What is involved in treatment?
You will be invited to attend an initial consultation where we can discuss your expectations of treatment and you will have the chance to ask any questions you might have. Once we have ascertained your suitability, we will take impressions of your teeth, which will be used as the basis for the design of your aligner. The Inman aligner is created on highly accurate 3D printed models and these models are digitally corrected and made in the image of your tooth structure. Once the final touches have been digitally made to the design of your aligner, it can be made up and fitted. You will be instructed to wear the aligner for 16-20 hours a day; depending on the nature of the issue being treated, this will vary. We will ask you to come in every 2-3 weeks to track the progress of your teeth.
How does the Inman Aligner straighten your teeth?
The Inman aligner uses nickel titanium coil springs triggering two aligner arches that work against each other to in turn, guide your teeth into a desired position. The force applied is gentle and works over a large range of movement; this is the key to the Inman aligner working so quickly.
What are the benefits of choosing the Inman aligner?
The other short-term appliance offered by us here at Cliftonville is Six Month Smiles treatment, a fixed ceramic brace. Whilst this is a highly effective treatment that works towards the same goals as the Inman aligner, the latter is removable, a quality which many patients find favourable. With so many of us on specific diets nowadays, whether it be vegetarian, vegan, raw food or gluten-free, the orthodontics market is constantly finding ways to meet the patient desire of not needing to amend their diet for treatment. In the case of the Inman aligner, patients can simply remove the aligners to eat the foods they enjoy and in order to brush and floss as normal. By contrast, fixed braces can make it challenging to brush and need to spend more time caring for their teeth throughout the treatment period. Whilst the Inman aligner is not classed as an ‘invisible’ treatment, the metal bar used is fine, so the appliance goes generally unnoticed to others.
