Dermal fillers (along with Botox) make up 90% of the non-surgical facial aesthetics market and their popularity is no mystery. Fillers treatments (lip and dermal) are a less invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery and produce predictable and natural-looking results for the patient. Here are some common questions we get asked about fillers treatment here at the practice.
How long do the effects of dermal fillers last?
Depending on the type of fillers used, dermal fillers can last between 6 and 9 months. Alas the ageing process is inevitable for all of us however, dermal fillers can stimulate the production of collagen in your skin which in turn, slows down the physical effects of ageing – with regular treatment, you will find you need less treatment to yield the same results over time.
What are dermal fillers made of?
Dermal fillers are actually made up hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance found in the body. When you are young, your skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid is abundant and it is this that keeps you looking young. Around the age of 30, the body starts to produce less hyaluronic acid which is what kick-starts physical evidence of ageing.
Why have dermal fillers performed by a dentist?
Treatments such as dermal fillers should only ever be carried out by a dentist or doctor, both of which possess the medical knowledge and expertise for treatment to be carried out safely. Be aware that seeking these treatments from anyone other than a medical professional is putting your health at serious risk.
Is treatment invasive?
As mentioned above, dermal fillers are a less invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery and require no recovery period after treatment. Treatment takes very little time to complete (30 minutes) and you can continue with your normal activities the minute you leave the practice here in Northamptonshire. You may experience very minimal discomfort at the injection site though this will be temporary.
