Injectable treatments to help your skin look noticeably younger

The two main types of injectable treatments used are :

  • Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) and
  • Dermal Fillers

These are often used in combination to achieve the best results. We’d love to welcome you to our Northampton practice for a free consultation, so we can discuss the most appropriate treatment for you and explain the type of results you should expect.

Botox® and Azzalure®

Before
After

Botox® – Botulinum Toxin A – has been used medically for more than 20 years. More than just a cosmetic treatment, Botox® is relied on by doctors to safely treat a number of conditions including facial tics, muscle spasms and excessive sweating.

You’re probably more familiar with Botox® as an effective, and now well-established, treatment for lines and wrinkles. It works by relaxing the muscles which cause wrinkles by repeated movement.

The most common areas treated with Botox® are the frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and ‘crow’s feet’ wrinkles that extend around the eyes.

The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes. Botox® is administered with minimal discomfort using a fine needle, targeting specific muscles. The injections may cause slight swelling and reddening of the area which resolves within 1-2 hours.

Also a type of Botulinum toxin, Azzalure® is an increasingly popular alternative brand which works in a similar way to Botox®. When you visit Cliftonville for your free consultation we’ll discuss which of these treatments may be more suited to you as an individual.

Dermal Fillers – Restylane

Before
After

Dermal fillers are used to soften and contour lines, folds and wrinkles. The most commonly used dermal fillers are collagen-based or hyaluronic-based. The solution is injected into the skin to add volume and create a more youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers can be used to fill age-related lines of the upper and lower facial areas, and also to enhance lip volume and improve the mouth shape.

The procedure takes about 30-40 minutes depending on the number of areas treated.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the treatment suitable for?
It is usually suitable for women and men of all ages and skin types who are looking to improve their facial appearance. However, a consultation is required.

How long will the results last?
This varies with individuals. For Botox®, the rejuvenating effect will be evident after approximately 5 days and will last for approximately 3-6 months. For Dermal fillers, the effects are immediate and will last for approximately 6-9 months.

After these periods, follow-up treatment can be carried out.

Is the procedure painful?
There is minimal discomfort during Botox® treatment and no anaesthetic is required. With Dermal Fillers, a topical anaesthetic is applied prior to the procedure for your comfort.

Are there any side-effects?
A small percentage of patients may temporarily experience bruising, headaches and eyelid drooping but these are rare. There have been no allergies associated to Botox® to date. The Dermal fillers that we use are non-permanent and the risks associated with them are minimal.

I hear Botox® is sometimes referred to as “The Lunchtime Face-Lift”…can I go back to work straight away?
These treatments have minimal impact on your time, and you are able to return to work immediately after the procedure.

How much does it cost?
This varies according to the number of facial areas treated, but as a guide, Botox® treatments start from £150, and Dermal filler treatments from £275.
